Karamani Paruppu Usli/Black Eye Peas Lentil Dry Curry

I have been always the lover of paruppu usli. The best combination is Moor Kuzhambu and usli. I have tried usli with various vegetable and the latest one is with Karamani.





Ingredients:

1.Black Eye Peas - 1/2 Cup (soaked for 5 hrs)
2.Thoor Dhal - 1/2 Cup (Soak for 45 minutes)
3.Channa Dhal - 1/2 Cup (Soak for 45 minutes)
4.Onion - 1/2 Cup (Chopped)
5.Red Chilly - 5
6.Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
7.Mustard - 1 tsp
8.Curry leaf - Small qty
9.Oil - 2 tbs
10.Salt - Needed qty

Procedure:

1.Pressure cook Black Eye pea with salt and keep aside.
2.Grind coarsely the soaked thoor dhal and channa dhal along with chilly,asafoetida and little qty of salt.
3.Make balls out of the ground dhal and steam in idly plates.
4.Once cooked,allow it to cool down.
5.Now,crumble them without any big lumps.
6.In a pan,add oil.Pop mustard.
7.Then,add the chopped onion and curry leaf.
8.Now,add the crumbled dhal and cooked black eye pea.
9.Mix them well and medium the flame.
10.Close the pan with lid. Allow it to be as such for another 15-20 minutes.
11.This goes good with any rice.
